Thank you for the music (a sort of epiphany)

I have recently enjoyed listening to an Abba playlist on Spotify, although I have never been a particular fan. Their fame came after my time as a young guy. Little Richard, Chubby Checker (“Let's twist again”), Fats Domino, and the King himself, Elvis Presley, were some of the pop musicians I remember.

A few days ago I had a sort of epiphany. While out for a walk in nature and not feeling very happy in the moment, my mind seemed to be grasping to find something just beyond my consciousness. Suddenly, I seemed to find what I was looking for and the words of Abba’s song “Thank you for the music”, were front of mind.

“But I have a talent” meant something. It came to me that the song could be a metaphor that applied to life. I wouldn’t begin to compare any talent of mine to Agnetha’s, but I do have talents, as we all do. I felt energised to get on with applying the talents I do have.

The “music” in “Thank you for the music” could be a metaphor for everything in an abundant and happy life. I felt inspired to be thankful and grateful and celebrate the “music” of my life.

Abba express this better than I ever could. Here is a link to their song on YouTube:
